I just bought a new monitor, the Envision EN-985e, which is on sale for $179.99 after rebate for those that may want a decent monitor, besides this slight problem of course. Hopefully it's not a big deal, but I would like to find out before keeping and recommending this monitor.

The problem is that after I adjust the settings in the OSD, this done while computer and monitor have been running a while, if I shut down for a bit and then turn the monitor back on, the display has shifted about a eighth inch to the right, and once warm again, it will slowly return to my original settings.

Can anyone tell me if their monitors do this, and if it's normal, or do I need to be worried about this leading to further problems. It really is a small problem, but an annoying one for someone who is as anal as myself. I've returned this monitor twice already, and all of them have done this, so it's a thing with these monitors I guess. Do all monitors do this and I never noticed?

Thanks for any light you might shed on this,

I don't know whether or not all monitors do this (TFT's sure as hell don't ;) ) but my FD Trinitron does show a slight difference

This is NOT normal for a monitor with a good power supply / deflection circuit design. All monitors drift slightly as they warm up, however they should not drift more than 1mm IMHO. A professional grade monitor will not drift more than 1mm. This should be hardly noticeable to most people.

Believe it or not, I brought this monitor back to the store, and this was the third one this week I brought back, all of the same model, that did the same exact thing. I finally got one that does as you said, no more than a mm, if that. The other three all did it at least an eighth of an inch, maybe even up to a quarter inch. I don't know exactly how much as I didn't measure. I'm happy with this one though, finally.

On a side note, I finally got one that worked right, and as I was putting it on my desk, I let it rest on my keyboard to put the base on, and it broke off one of the keyboard stands. This monitor was determined to piss me off like the other three, at least in some way.
