We recently installed a new video card in my brothers system.
Win 98 F.E.
AMD Athelon 600
New card Diamond V770 TNT2 non Ultra
The install went perfect. First reverted to standard display. Un installed the old drivers. changed cards and started up, installed new drivers for the V770.

They have a upgrade wizard that will search for new drivers at the Diamond site. It downloaded and installed them. After restarting I tried to open the display properties but they wouldn't open.

Here is the error message.

quote:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Error occurred while Windows was working with the control panel file C:\Windows\System\Desk.CPL.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I tried un installing, reinstalling, Deleting in safe mode, SFC and a few other things.

Anyone out there with some good ideas heck even a few bad ideas cant hurt.

Humbled

Well I have no way of going back or changing to the standard vga because I cant open the Display properties. The card is working with the diomond drivers I just cant open the properties. If I delete the drivers in safemode I can get it in standard VGA but I still cant get to the properties menu.
