Hey all, got a problem to lay out for you here. Recently (a day ago) I was going along as usual, doing a little browsing on my comptuer, and suddenly, my monitor dies...well...not dies, goes into standby, (little orange light) The computer didnt shut off, all my fans are still running.
When i restart my machine (or just start is at all) the hard drive light turns on for a period of time, as if it would when loading bios settings and windows, and then shuts off. This appears normal.
I've unplugged my hard drives, and opticals, and replaced IDE cables all to no avail. Everything seems to be running propely except my monitor. I plugged my monitor into my parents dell...and it works. Plugged my parents monitor into my comptuer, and it stays in standby. This leads me to believe now, that it may be a video problem.. *NOOOO!* But..the vga silencer rev3 fan is still spinning on it, suggesting that it is continuing to recieve voltage. The only thing I have not done is pulled the card and inspected it. That I suppose, is my next step...looking for darkened surface mounts. >.<
Yes i overclock my video card, but not rediculously. It has ramsinks and as mentioned, a vga silencer. no voltage tweaking, just clocks on the vid card. The rest of my setup is in my system dropdown above ^^^^ help! any ideas?
----------------------------------------
physically the video card appears to be in perfect condition, ignoring the bit of dust anyway. but nothing on it seems to work. I treed hooking the DVI to VGA converter to the dvi port, then to my 17" crt, no go. hauled it to the livingroom and hooked it into the TV with s-video, no go. Its running right now, power light is on, HD light is off. Seems like it would be running normally besides the lack of video. These symptoms lead me to the video card, but there doesnt appear to be anything wrong with it! Could some tiny component have fried or died? Possible. Its an old dell montior but even so, it ran on my parents voodoo3 no problem an hour ago. The power cord never moved either, so
----------------------------------------
cleared cmos, no luck. tried all the magic boot buttons: frantically pressing delete, holding insert or shift during restard. nothing.
