When someone has two video cards to display four monitors, and two of the monitors will not stay enabled or positioned correctly, what would cause this?
The video cards are identical nVidia 8800's. He uses the two cards to display four monitors. He says that if he turns on his computer from a shutdown then only two of his four monitors come on. The two that did not come on are not found in the display settings. There is also an exclamation mark in the device manager on one of the display adapters.
However, if he then restarts the computer then in the display settings there are the four monitors to choose from and he can enable the two monitors that were disabled and all four monitors work great. In the device manager there isnt an exclamation mark.
What would cause this? The video cards are identical. He is running the latest drivers from nVidia. Why would shutting down the system cause it not to either recognize one of the video cards or not properly initializing the drivers to one while a restart from Windows and everything works perfectly?
