First time poster. I've been following this site for a long time. My PC is on it's last legs, I know this. I've got a ood Video card, geoforce 3 ti 2000 and everyrhing else is old. 18gb HD, 192 mb Raam,win98, and P2 400, I'm upgrading as soon as my taxes come in.
My display problem is this ; my monitor often flickers and expands so that the left and right side get stretched around 25% I have to go into properties change the settings and when it asks if I like the settings I say no only if it doesn't stretch while I say yes or no. I've tried various resolutions to no avail. I'm running the latest deonator drivers and have tried 5 different drivers with no luck./ I used det destroyer wuth each install to make sure it was a clean install. I even reformatted the hard driveI have a acerview 77e 17 inch monitor- which isn't listed on acer's site so Imy moniutor is listed as plug and play. Is my monitor dying??

My cd rom willl not install anything. I can play cd's, When I insert a cd into the drive it doesn't show up also when I hit explore it saysd it isn't accesable but then shows me all the files on the cd. I tried going into system prperties but my cd rom drive doesnt show up at all as a device??? Any ideas? This first occured when I was trying to install Operation Flashpoint.

Does anyone have any ideas? or should I just wait for my new system in around a month or so?? Thanks:confused:

Can you flash the firmware on the cd rom, and possibly look at flashing the motherboard? You may look at the manufacturers website on the motherboard and see if any of the bios upgrades address any of the issues you are having.

My two guesses...

1. Monitor is about to die
2. CDrom is about to die

Hard to say for sure unless you try your stuff in/on another machine.
