Disney vs Dreamworks

Is it just me or does anyone thinks that Dreamworks animation is better than Disney's from a technical perspective.

After seeing Monster INc and Shrek, i found shrek has much more detailed and vibrant characters. Even the traditional cartoons from Dreamworks looks better than Disney's (eg Prince of Egypt, and the water color effect of El DoRaDo is amazing).

i think it all comes down to the creative story in the end. monsters was really cute and i dont consider it "disney" ...

Monster's Inc. is an excellent movie, and perhaps the better movie, because they focused more on the characters, and the quality of the ANIMATION, rather than the quality of the image...

I thought Shreck was great, and yes it looked better than some Pixar stuff, but Monsters Inc was astounding, what lacked in the story part was by far made up in the animation of it.

Shreck = Better story and humor.

Monsters Inc = Way better animation.

But in the end, nothing will beat the original Toy Story.

i'm not noticing the better animation. to me the characters in monsters ink looked more vibrant😛 the big furry monster was especially rendered well. i didn't think the shrek story was much at all, monster inc was better, but thats not saying all that much. toystory 1-2, those kicked ass🙂 plus, all the stories from dreamworks aren't compelling to me. yes i've seen em all, in the theater. i'm not sure whats better at all in shrek, if you want trees and grass look at old bugs life. pixar seems to always be ahead.

start a poll.🙂 i like dreamworks as a whole, personally. although toystory 2 as an individual movie i thought was the best.

Shrek is great, I own the DVD and enjoy watching it...but it still can't hold a candle to Toy Story and Toy Story 2. It's rare when the sequel is also a classic...

I haven't seen Monsters Inc yet.

A Bug's Life was also pretty good, but not quite as good as toy story. I thought Antz sucked.

I think the general quality of Disney has been going downhill. I like the older movies, where the people actually look like people, and everything isn't stylized with sharp angles and overexaggerated body types. I had a hard time sitting through "Hercules" and "Mulan" because nothing in either of those movies looked "real".

I haven't seen all the computer-animated films to make a call there, but I did like "Shrek" better than the little creepy-crawly bug movies.

Shrek is funnier then Monsters inc IMO. But Toy story (1, 2) is better then both of these films.

Plus, for some reason I hate Disney.

all the recent good disney flicks are made by pixar... not a good sign.

i think disney needs to go back to their musical cartoon movie days.. who can forget lion king?

Doesn't Disney have their own Computer animation studio now. Didn't they use it to make that dinosaur movie not to long ago.

Oh man, finally a person who thinks that too. I really could not stand watching Hercules, Mulan, Prince's New Groove or any of the recent ones with my little brothers. Ughh... where'd they get those artists?

That movie was horrible, story wise and was one of the worst films from Disney imo.
Monsters Inc. was a great movie, stands up there with Toy Story I and II, Shrek and A bug's life.

yup dinosoar was awesome until the point that the @# started to talk. that and the lousy lemurs.. wtf?

anyhow, i agree that recent disney cell animation has kinda stunk, mulan was a joke. it looked low budget, hercules wasn't quite as bad, and everything else b4 that up to mermaid rocked🙂 well emperors new groove is an exception, its far funnier then shrek.
