I think he had something in mind more like green or blue-green cells with chloroplasts. But photosynthesizing plants reject the highest energy portion of the spectrum. They absorb energy from the low and high wavelengths but reject green. Somehow I think this rejection of green is actually predicted by quantum mechanics but don't ask me how.In that you could change your skin tone at will? Dark in the summer to avoid the burn and pasty in the winter for the vitamin D? Sign me right up! I'd totally be down for that!
edit: oh, the point of that little excursion was that the Farscape character might have just absorbed green wavelengths. No idea how that would make someone look though. White light minus green? IDK, I guess she would have to appear purplish?
