Ya know... if you recently bought yourself a new iPhone and picked the Verizon Unlimited package, you qualify for a free year of both Disney+ and Apple TV+.

Something tells me that Netflix is going to lose a ton of subscribers because of package deals like this.

Actually they're more likely to keep survivors since people won't have to pay for both.

T-Mobile gives you Netflix.

Edit: I had no idea how many people use the buggy garbage software on their smart TV's. I run everything on a 4k fire stick and everything always works fine.

When I first heard about Netflix the idea of checking out multiple DVDs of movies per week so I could copy them (illegally) and build up a nice movie trove was a stellar idea, but I never participated. I was very focused on moves, not television. But at the time people that were signing up for Netflix and tried to cancel during the free trial complained about how difficult it was. This went on for years, Netflix evolved from mail distribution to streaming, from movies-focus to original TV content and for someone like me that is a movie person first, a TV person second, bothers me. In a world in which technologies gets better and the cost of it goes down, I am dismayed that businesses like Netflix feels the need to remove content for non-licensing reasons (e.g. storage capacity).

And it is with the catalog that changes in negative ways (titles disappearing) that was the last and latest concern that kept me from subscribing to Netflix until yesterday. I still have these concerns but like the technologies and the industries I find myself being forced to evolve with it--or continue to do without. What does shock me the most is that you have some companies that have decades worth of TV catalogs full of old TV shows and they are not being offered up in streaming form. Can you imagine having access to every Prime time and late night ABS show from the inception of ABC? Now imagine that for the other original off the air channels.

Works fine for me, however there are a few key complaints I would like to address.

1. Not keeping your place in a movie or TV show. Stopping a movie, then starting it hours later, starts the movie at the beginning. Same for a TV series. On ep 4, turn it back on later and it goes back to ep1. Thats just dumb.

2. Not being able to use a pointer on the TV controller to use the guide, is also dumb. Having to use up, down, left, and right to navigate is cumbersome and just overall lazy on their part. Hulu allowed you to use the pointer, did an update and removed that option. Just did another update and allowed it again. I dont know why anyone would not have this option being standard.

I find it incredible that a multi-billion dollar company provides such a lackluster streaming experience, but if you go and use some "questionable" means, along with an easy to setup frontend, it can be fully customized and work perfectly.

Yep... use Plex just fine all the time. You can use the controller pointer to navigate just fine, and it remembers where you are in a movie. Asks if you want to resume, or start over. How these two simple things did not make the cut is just ridiculous.

That being said, Ep 2 of The Mandalorian was very good. I am glad I have Disney+, but its free for a year so that helps.

I don't really have problems with sync, but holy heck do I have to crank the TV up to levels around 4 times other options. Of course if I forget to turn it down when switching sources that's a nice way to blow out your ear drums.

The lack of resume amazes me.

I signed up yesterday and logged in on the Roku. I was out most of the Erving but my wife streamed for 2 to 3 hours with no problems.

Cool, dividing up the day by basketball players in the Hall of Fame. Have you tried watching in the Mourning? ;)
