Disney ignoring Expanded Universe for new Star Wars trilogy

Honestly, I found a lot of the stuff in the EU to be vapid warfare. Now granted, there's going to be warfare in a series called Star Wars, but the Yuuzhan Vong plotline was like, okay what the...?

At least the Thrawn series was consistent with the original Canon. That's a trilogy of movies I'd pay to see. But really here, I'd like to see some fresh content here. I thought JJ Abram's Star Trek movies were good. I love the original Star Trek universe, and I love the Abrams universe too. I'm sure the new Star Wars movies will be fine.

I think it is a bit frustrating to have a social contract, if you will, between Lucas, the authors, and the readers that dictates what is acceptable canon just to then dispose of it because of what, in all probability, will be a second-rate movie. One,which of course, I'll stand in line to see.

I enjoyed the Thrawn series well enough, but I think what I am going to miss is the X-Wing stories with Wedge and Rogue Squadron. I really enjoyed the story-telling of the 'clean up' efforts after RotJ and all of the other characters beyond the movie heroes. The untold stories, if you will, of the other folks in the galaxy.

There's always the option of fanon discontinuity if it sucks. Granted, as the prequels taught us, that gets to be difficult if we're not talking about just one movie but a whole trilogy.

the fact is that the seelout to disney might possibly be one of the greatest occurances of star wars ever if maybe disguised

the fact is taht george lucas himself has stated taht he wants the star wars to become a legend and i think the fans should start to completely take up the entire works of star wars themselves
