Sorry i have to come to atot for medical advice, but i don;'t really want to go to emergency room if this is somethig that can be done by myself.

I dislocated my finger playing baksetball and now need to know if i should attempt to correct it. Isn't this commonly done in sports?

Never happened to me before, but I'd take it to the ER just to be safe. If it's fractured, and you fvck it up, marrow may enter the blood and you could die. Very rare, but possible.

Dislocated or jammed it? If it's only jammed (black/blue/swollen around the knuckle and hurts like hell) you can ice it and keep it splinted for a week or so. If it's dislocated, go to a doctor.

I dislocated my knee the other day, my knee cap was on the side of my leg. popped it back in myself then went to the emergency room for x-ray.

you should def. get it checked out, just incase.

Oooooooooooooooooh..............wife did that a few months ago. I was lookin' at her knee cap on the side of her knee and I was like..........WTF?????

I tried to help, but she said she'd done it before & knew how to fix it. She finally adjusted her knee to where it popped back in place & she was fine.

Gave me the flippin' heebeegeebeeez................

if i can move it some does that mean it's just jammed?

If it's dislocated, it should be visible IMO. I've had my finger jammed several times, and it looked perfectly normal. I never splinted it either. And I play the piano.

I did something like this when I was in high school. Turned out I had torn the ligament from the bone. Back then, they just splinted it for 6 weeks. Today, it would mean surgery, but I wouldn't have a bent finger.

Go to the doctor.

Go to the doctor.

I dislocated a toe a few years ago, went to the doctor, took some x-rays even though it was obviously dislocated since it was pointing in a different direction, then popped it back in. Hurt, but that was probably because I'd been walking on it all day before I realized it was dislocated. However, I can't bend that toe very well anymore. :(

You must not play football or basketball much. This happens very often, pop it back in and ice it. If too painful then go to ER.
