Disk size question

I have an 80 GB HD, a P4 1.8, and I barely use more than about 8 GB more than what space the OS occupies (windows 2000 for me). If I reduce the disk size to say a lesser amount and leave all tyhe unused space which I probably will never use as unpartitioned space and leave my c: as about 5 GB more than what I need, so suppose I take my original drive and halve its size to 40 GB, would this result in a performance increase and all taht? Would it be easier to defragment and fast file get time?

It wouldn't really result in a performance increase. It'd just be a waste of space.

You can always partition that HD into two partitions... Smaller partition (C: drive) for your OS, apps and swap file, and leave the rest in a second partition (D: drive).
