Disk Management in XP Pro

Quick question. Running XP Pro with four hard drives. On one HD, I have four logical drives. I just formatted and deleted one of them. How do I merge the space from my formatted logical drive to the rest of the empty space on that drive?

It's easy with Partition Magic 8. You delete the empty drive and create free space - then expand the drive you want into that free space.

I'm pretty sure under XP you could do an expansion if it was a dynamic disk; but I like the Partition Magic suggestion better, it does a very good job resizing partitions.

use the expand command built into diskpart which is built into your OS 🙂
You could also convert to dynamic and span. Being on the same spindle you wouldn't really decrease your fault tolerance.

I would stay away from partition havok, especially if you are using logical drives/extended partitions. It is the uber hassle to rebuild those by hand when partition havok messes them up.

Good point, no need to spend money for this because it can just be done with diskpart. Not as capable as Partition Magic but since the OP is looking for simple functionality it can all be done nativly.

I've never had issues w/ partition magic, but I'm thinking you are one who ends up w/ those problems when they do arise... 😀
