Disk I/O message

I recently just bought a new hard drive from a computer show for a new system that I'm building. I just installed the components into the new case and started to install Windows 2000. I tested all the components individually, and they all worked fine. But when the cd-rom was beginning to install...a message saying "Disk I/O error Status = 00003200". Anybody know what this message means or what I can do to fix it? thanks for any help!

I had a similar problem the other day. but mine said "Disk I/O error Status = 0000800"

I just went back to 98se. Never could figure out what what was going on.
I'd like to know if you ever get it working though.

i've had this problem once before, and found it to be the cdrom drive of the customer's
i was installing 2k on. I used my Afreey 50x and it loaded up just fine, so i'd suggest
trying another cdrom drive. Some drives have poor boot emulation when booting off a cd.
just my 2 cents 🙂

hey daveybrat, I was just going to give my same results. For some reason, the LG 52X CD-ROM works fine in windows but it just won't work during bootup from my win2k cd. I replaced it with a Yamaha 16/10/40 burner and it worked fine afterwards. I guess I'll set the Yamaha as the master CD-ROM.

But just out of curiosity...does anyone know the exact reason causing this problem? Is the bad emulation the only problem?
