Disk boot failure? please help.

I recently put together a new PC and up until last night everything was running great. Now I'm getting an error message right after the mobo screen that says:

Loading Operating System...
Boot from CD/DVD :
DISK BOOT FAILURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER

any ideas? I checked the boot priorities, nothing has changed there.

Thanks for your help.

Boot from a UBCD4Win disk to see if you can see the data on the hard drive. You could also run the hard drive manufacturer's diagnostic software from a boot disk.

It's having problems with the hard drive. Either the boot information is gone/corrupted or your hard drive is failed/failing. I would run a hard drive diag like owensdj said. Does the HD show up in the BIOS?

As above, check that the drive is recognised by BIOS. Is the drive spinning up at boot? - check all connections for cables to the harddrive (data cable to motherboard, power cable from PSU).

Neither my SSD or HDD are being recognized in the BIOS, but the optical drive is. I had them both plugged into the 6gb SATA ports, so I tried plugging them into the 3gb ports(which the optical drive uses). still not recognized. could this have something to do with the sandy bridge mobo recalls? thank you for your replys.

The problem doesn't affect the 6Gb/s ports, so I don't think so (anything's possible). Do you have another system that you can test them in?
