Well, I've been working on building a computer for my aunt for about 2 weeks now. There is always a problem. I swear this thing is cursed. My lastest problem is one that I can't quite understand; maybe I am doing something severely wrong. I have a Abit KT7A in there right now, and it doesn't seem to let me boot off a floppy. I'm assuming that error message means that I should insert a floppy, press enter, and all is well. Nope, not this time. I have messed around with the boot order to no avail. It makes no sense. Do you guys think I have a broken floppy drive? I have checked the cables about 8 times already and my back is already sore from bending over so much. I can't seem to find anything wrong. Any suggestions?

Did you try a different boot disk? Not sure where you are with this. Are you still building? Have you loaded the OS yet? Did you go ahead and "flip" the floppy cable around? Have you tried a different floppy cable or drive?

Check to see if you have the interface cables plugged in the correct way for the floppy and harddrives, make sure the red line on the cable aligns with the number one terminal. The Abit boards are BADLY marked, so it's really easy to get them wrong.
And as Buz said, try a different boot disc, even if you have to download one from Windrivers or somewhere, and put it on a NEW disk.
Good luck.

I was (still am, in fact) setting up a new rig, and used a hard drive from my other computer. When I reinstalled it back to the old computer, I got the same error message. So......I put in my Win 98 start-up disk........and, viola!!!.........nuttin........absolutely nuttin, but the same old error message.

Guess what was wrong? I didnt have the power cord plugged in properly. It was on a "splitter" and I had the wrong one plugged into it.

Dont know if this will help, but that was what happened to me.

Good luck!
