Dishwasher broke....

It looks pretty nice and it has the food disposer which is like a must have IMO on a dishwasher. We have a stainless steel model and it gets pretty yucky looking because of oil and stuff from your hands getting a little dirty as you open and close the dishwasher to load it until we clean it with this appliance cleaner crap my wife buys.

Anybody know where to look for top rated ones?

Consumer Reports - Top rated dishwashers

Thanks!!

From your screen shot it looks like the Sears Kenmore 13743 is the top pick @ $650. Looking at tax, delivery and install it would run about $876

Would you be able to look up the KitchenAid KUDS03FTSS and see where it stands up?

Also the Whirlpool Gold GU2275XTVY and GU2300XTVS.

Thanks!

Ok, I am leaning towards the Whirlpool DU1055XTS. Its ranked #7 on Consumer Reports list. Its basically the same exact dishwasher I have now - which makes me a little hesitant since this one died only 3 years in.

Best Buy has it for $639 installed, delivered and taxed

Lowe's has it for $557 (minus a $85 mail in rebate) delivered and taxed. Installation is extra and it doesn't say online how much it would cost.

PC Richards has the DU1100XTPS for $727

How hard is it to install the thing? I'm sure its just hooking up a couple hoses and then connecting it to a power outlet. I mean if that is all that its going to take I can ask someone with a truck to help me pick it up and install it myself and save some cash.

Typically very easy to install, especially if you are just replacing an old one. They are also small and light, we actually took ours home from the store in the back of a Prius.

Hmmm interesting. I'm guessing that I can do this myself - I just have to disconnect the old one and connect the new one.

Think it would fit in either a 2009 Focus Coupe or a 2007 VW Jetta?

I'd verify that repair diagnosis. I haven't heard of many pumps going out in only 3 years on even lesser units.

Do you have extra minerally water or something?

I'd check partstap.com or a similar site to see what the part and replacement procedure is really like. I have saved people a ton of money on things they easily could do themselves or throw $20 at me to do for them with things like this.

I had thought my transmission unit was going out on my washer...I called around and they wanted $300-400 to replace it. I could get the part for less than half their quoted price and the job was pretty straight forward.

Turned out it was just a long piece of string had wrapped around the shaft a billion times. I cut it all away and the thing has been silent since.

The only problem with getting it verified is that all the techs have service fees. This past one was $80 and if I get someone else out to look at it then it'll probably be another $80.

without doing the diagnosis yourself you are at their mercy...there should be a write up on your symptoms and how to verify what part is bad on the internet somewhere. I'd start with bad pump and your model number as a search and see if others have this issue.
