What's next? A woman feels justified in destroying Ruben's The Rape of the Daughters of Leucippus painting because she feels bad about it? Burn down the Holocaust museum because it contains offensive imagery? Destroy any history books with images that make SJWs uncomfortable?

Yale should have prosecuted the guy. You don't go around destroying things that don't belong to you just because you don't like it.

An African-American dishwasher who last month smashed a stained-glass window at Yale University because it depicted what he considered a racist scene is out of a job, but the offending pane and others like it are gone for good.

Corey Menafee admitted he took a broom handle to the glass panel, which was in the Ivy League school’s Calhoun residential college dining hall, because it depicted slaves carrying bales of cotton. Menafee, who now faces a felony criminal mischief charge, told the New Haven Independent he was angered by the “racist, very degrading” image.

“I took a broomstick, and it was kind of high, and I climbed up and reached up and broke it,” he told the newspaper. “It’s 2016, I shouldn’t have to come to work and see things like that.

“I just said, ‘That thing’s coming down today. I’m tired of it,’” he added. “I put myself in a position to do it, and did it.”

Last week, Yale official Julia Adams said a set of remaining stained-glass panels depicting various moments from the life of building namesake John C. Calhoun, a onetime U.S. vice president and defender of states' rights, which included slavery, would be removed from the college common room.

If we destroy all the imagery that relates to slavery then it never happened right?

Well that's fairly misguided. If it is historical and racist we must remove it from existence.
Say goodbye to Grimm's fairy tales and about anything involving minorities created during 19th century Europe.

I don't agree with it- and I get that just destroying art people don't like is the absolute DEATH of art itself if such were to become acceptable in any case...

... but on the other hand, a stained glass window of slaves carrying bales of cotton?

eeeh. No loss.

Seriously, it's hard to feel too outraged over the loss of such grand tackiness. I know, I know, slippery slopes and all... but still. No loss.

You just lost your right to be outraged when some liberal pos art gets destroyed because some nutter feels triggers by it.

Art like this needs to remain so people never forget what this country was built upon.

This is why I don't want the Edmund Pettus bridge renamed.

The mentality we're instilling in people: if you don't like it, feel free to use your SJW justification and destroy it. It's all good.

This idiot should be charged with a crime and go to jail. Instead, because it's a SJW-approved crime there will be no repercussions.

Well you know art. One mans quaint historical depiction is another mans urine covered crucifix.

He shouldn't have done it which is why he no longer has a job.
Yale should have taken it down long ago which is why they don't want charges pressed or restitution.
“The employee apologized for his actions and subsequently resigned from the University,” according to the statement sent Tuesday to The Washington Post. “The University has requested that the State’s Attorney not press charges. Yale is also not seeking restitution.”

I always read Zaap's posts when I run across them. This one is an example of why.

Racist art?

So by using the standards as the guy in the story, this could be racist art? From Clementine Hunter.

Ridiculous. How sad that someone can label anything and everything under the sun as "racist".

What Homer said. Now and in the future, we as a people need to be reminded of both the great triumphs and the utter failings of our nation. Whitewashing history isn't the answer.

Oh, did they install the stained glass after he got the job there? No?
I mean, he's completely right that he didn't have to come to work every day and look at it. I'm reasonably confident there are other dishwashing job opportunities available.

I did. Did you? The guy was allowed to resign, no charges will be pressed, and no restitution for the damage will be demanded. In other words, no consequences whatsoever. Now if I were to just destroy something that belongs to my employer because I don't like it, I don't think I'd get treated the same way. SJW stupidity in action.

Because losing your job is not a consequence.....
