I never had any problems with them while I had the service, they were spot on. The issues I did have with them was after I cancelled due to moving into a condo that I couldn't keep the service.
I returned the equipment, but they say they never recieved it. Years later we're still deadlocked with a $600 bill that I won't pay, and they keep saying I still owe.

You seem pretty irrational, but here's my advice: File a BBB complaint.

I did this when Sprint charged me my early termination fee while letting dozens or even hundreds of other people bypass it for the same reason I did. After filing the complaint and explaining the situation to them they reversed the fee without much hassle.

I've had the Dish for about 5 years, and couldn't be happier with the service...especially whan compared to our local cable company...ComCrap...yeah, high-speed cable internet would be nice, but not at the cost of having to deal with them again...(that story is too long of a rant to post here) So far, the ONLY problem we've had with Dish, was about 3 yrs ago, we lost signal for most channels...turned out, the dish had lost it's alignment...had to pay a tech to come out and fix that, ($25-$35..not sure) and he showed me where the neighbor's kids had been throwing a ball at it...could see the marks on the dish...other than that, I don't care for most of their programming, but that's personal preference, and I'd hate the same shows on DirecTV or cable too...
So, for me, Dish Network gets a :thumbsup:

They pulled some shens on me too. After about a year and a half into my service (6 months past my contract), I called to terminate my service because we did not watch it anymore. The service rep talked me into a special (very basic service for dirt cheap, around $12 for a month to see if we like the service).

So she said that they would send me a box to send the old HD unit back and they would ship me a regular tuner as well. After we hung up my service stopped working, as it should because I need the regular tuner which was being shipped to me. I get the box to ship the HD tuner back very quick (3 business days), it took them almost 3 weeks to get me the regular tuner, so I have been paying for 3 weeks of service that I could not watch. No big deal, for $12 a month I feel that I can't complain.

I send the HD tuner back the day after I recieve the return box. Being the paranoid person I am, I took photos of the return box with HD tuner in it, AND a picture of the return label so I will have the tracking number, just in case.

Well, a couple days later I get hit with a $400 charge from Dish. I called them up and the rep said that I have not returned the HD unit within the two week time period. I explain to her that I have a photo of the return label and it was printed off 5 DAYS AGO so there is no physical way it has been two weeks since the return box itself left Dish Network 5 days ago. She appologized and agreed to return my $400 into my account. I ask how long it will take to get my money back, she said it would be within 24 hours.

Sure enough, the next day my money was returned into my account. I called them back that afternoon to cancel my service entirely. The rep asked why and I explained the long story to her. She was very nice and understood why I was upset. Had to return the other standard tuner back; took pictures again and this time it made it back on time.

I've never had any problems with DN. No signal loss, period.

I still have basic cable so I can get RoadRunner cheaper, and compared to Dish cable looks like crap.

I've had Dish for years with only one issue, and that was our DVR (which they promptly shipped a replacement for). The signal has always been perfect, and their customer service is always very helpful. I also enjoy paying $5-10 less for the same channels. When Portland had that big windstorm a couple days ago, my mother in law's cable was out for almost a full day. Of course, since there's no wind in space ours was fine (once the power came on that is). 🙂

Sounds like the OP needs to switch to decaf, and not fly off the handle over something that could have easily been a small error during the install (as others have said).

Let me get this staight:
1) You sign a contract, and you are unhappy that you have to pay when you decide to break that contract.
2) You don't like the product and instead of having them fix it, you complain (not to the company who could solve the problems and even do it without fees if you were polite but instead you complain to ATOT and EBay which will accomplish nothing) and pay fees to break the contract.
3) You may have posted this incorrectly, but they charged you +$50 for the receiver, and you complain that you can buy one for $60?
4) They charge you all these fees and you don't even bother to complain then, heck you had your girlfriend call instead, maybe up to 6 weeks after the disputed charge?
5) You have no clue what money laundering is.
6) The shipping company lost a package and you don't bother to be mad at the shipper or contact the shipper for damages.
7) You don't realize that disputed charges on a CC are NOT SUBJECT TO INTEREST if you are correct. Heck, you aren't even very clear about what is on that CC or why you are payinig interest, but I couldn't really expect clarity after all that I see above.

Dish is a bad company, but not for any of the reasons you mention.

They gave me the runaround this summer when I moved from one house to another. I couldn't get service because of too many trees so I had to cancel. I was not obligated by any contract. They lied several times about shipping me a box and label, then all of a sudden I get a charge for $700. They were supposed to mail me 2 boxes for 2 different receivers. Eventually I got a box with no return label. More phone calls to people who could not help. Finally they agreed to email me a label. Never received it either. When I finally did receive the boxes (not for the correct receivers so they did not fit correctly) and labels it took almost 2 months and endless phone calls before I finally got a credit from them.

I never had any problems with Dish the entire time I had their service, only when I tried to cancel.

I never minded Dish when I had it in WV. Only time it ever went out was when we got some snow buildup on the dish itself. Now, on the other hand, when I moved back here to Texas, they couldn't align to the HD sat for some reason (tried a couple different dishes/lnbs), so I canceled and got the ETF waived. I sent back the HD receiver, and they tried to charge me for the LNBs, and I told them to send a tech out to get them, because I wasn't about to climb up on my roof for them, especially when they say "just leave the dish when your done!". They didn't charge me for the LNBs 😉

Overall, I'd go with Dish again, if they could get me an HD signal this time.

Anyhow no question Dish sucks. Its really surprising that they'd even jest that a prepaid label 'isn't trackable'. :roll: I'd want to skin their hides as well.

Thank god you are here to point out everything i did wrong, and im soooo glad you know everything step by step without even knowing or talking to me, none the less reading my first post. My dad just got me dish a month ago and I've been very satisfied with the hundreds of channels that I now have. But just last week after the serious thunder storm in Washington about 1/4 of my channels have been permanently scrambled, I think the wind had something to do with it and probably need my dish realigned.
