I'm glad CC is back. I'll continue to support them because they're cheaper and they fought Viacom and won.

How do you know that? the financial terms of the deal haven't been made public.

Actually, to be honest, I think Viacom got what they wanted (6 cents per subscriber per month), but their stock took a beating today while Echostar's stock rose on the news of restoration. Dow Jones News.

Dunno, Dish is still the only sat service that has our local channels here, has for a year or so. DirecTV has promised to get Reno channels for something like 3 years, and it's still listed as "coming soon". Of course that $40/month deal sounds pretty damn sweet. The only problems are 1) I like being able to watch one thing on my TV and record something else on my VCR, and 2) I'd still have to shell out $13/month for basic cable since I get absolutely no local channel reception up here. Oh, and I don't know if there's anywhere on the exterior of "my" part of the apartment complex with a clear view of the southern sky.

Dude, I was in reno area about a year ago. Up at Lake Tahoe, there are a lot of people who pirates DirectTV there. must be a big business up there. There are a lot of porno industry too. I stayed at a house that used be a porno production house (1 mil? probably the cheapest house there due to its stigma)

I don't know... Dish Network was running some propaganda on their FYI channel that said that Viacom's 6 cent claim was complete rubbish. The DN CEO said if it were actually true that it would only cost 6 cents per customer more, he'd sign the contract immediately.

By the way, looks like everyone will still get their $1/$2 credit, and you will also receive a certificate for a free pay-per-view movie order ($3.99).
