Dish Network + AMC

Has anyone else been following this dispute? We're getting pretty close to the cutoff date and from what I've heard, there's no agreement yet. I only really watch The Walking Dead on AMC, so it won't really affect me until October. I wonder if Dish will lower rates slightly if they drop AMC and the other related networks? I don't think I'll cancel if they drop AMC, but I will probably speak to customer service to receive some benefit for the channel loss.

As an aside, Dish seems to be running a lot of signup bonuses now. $50 credit on your first bill for having a referral from an existing sub, lower introductory rates, free Blockbuster@Home for 3 months, and free HBO/Cinemax/Showtime/Starz for 3 months. I wish I could get this stuff as an existing sub. I wonder if their new sub counts dropped considerably because of the AMC dispute?

I'm considering dropping them completely. They keep fiddling with the channel numbers, the channels, the bill is too damn high, loss of connection (like right now. Storming like a motherfucker and I can't watch TV) and I want to use the intranets as an alternative.

I have noticed my IFC is gone and AMC as well.

How much money does it take to send fucking satellites into space, beam down signals to millions of receivers across the nation? like 2-3 bucks? Seriously.

All the providers go through this shit when it's time to renegotiate their contracts with the various content providers.

It USUALLY gets resolved within a few days.

DirecTV had this problem with one of the FOX channel owners a couple of months ago. Several Fox channels were off for a couple of days...then they were back. :shrug:

AMC = channel 9609-9610.

I kinda doubt it will be resolved before the cutoff date. It'd surprise me if it were back before the Fall season kicks in. Luckily, AMC needs Dish more than Dish needs AMC.

This is not a standard disagreement over rates. It very clearly directly relates to an ongoing lawsuit AMC has. Dish's responses to their weird behavior with AMC are complete horse shit. They claim AMC doesn't belong on a low channel due to its ratings. Really? Does that mean you'll move it down near the network channels when the Walking Dead is back on, given that it equals and in some cases easily beats network TV shows?

Directv had this with the CW network. they settled and never lost the channel. good thing too because i a huge supernatural freak. love that show.

Hmmm, is Mad Men still in season? If so and the moved AMC, my recording won't be happening.

Is the 'new' AMC channel showing the current Mad Men shows? I seem to only see old shows shown at late night hours.

Businesses also need to spend millions on a CEO. That cocaine just isn't going to snort itself.

DirecTV hounded my mom for at least a year after they canceled their service. I love how they always seem so incredulous when you tell them you switched to an antenna. "That still works?", "how many channels do you get", etc. Good stuff.
