This is so sad. I was hoping Dish would respond to Softbank's numbers with those of their own. Instead, we get racism and patriotism. Now the Dish deal is most likely DOA.

This isn't too far off from the Dish press release when they announced the offer. They mentioned being an american company, etc, etc, etc, blah, blah blah.

I do think the last line in the article is pretty correct.

Ergen expects SoftBank to eventually raise its offer, calling Son's pledge not to do so "the biggest bluff of the day."

I totally expect SoftBank to match Dish's offer. But I don't believe anyone at Sprint was REALLY considering a Dish deal to begin with.

this is not direct racism. Hell, good for them to want US english workers. Does not mean anyone non-white cant be an english speaking american worker.

$20B for 70% values Sprint higher ($28B) than Dishe's $25B, right?

Softbank isn't like Chinese companies where they bring in their own labor force to build things.

Overall valuation, sure, but I think enough people are looking at the actual dollar amount. I'm still expecting SoftBank to throw in the extra 5B at some point. I think the shareholders believe they can get it. Won't be able to really tell until a few weeks before a vote and see if a couple of the major shareholders come out and act like their wavering.

"Dish cuts it awfully close to responding with racism"

That way it will truly read like an Onion article.
 
Yea Ergen is just grasping straws trying to block the Clearwire acquisition anyway he can. His unsolicited proposal would bring loads of debt and bloat onto Sprint along with the inexperience of running a wireless carrier.

What people don't realize is that Sprint contracts out to Samsung, Lucent Alcatel, and Sony Ericsson to put up their new Network Vision towers. And here we have Ergen complaining that Sprint going with Softbank would hamper their network buildout.

I think the way they phrased it seems fine to me. I believe there are a lot of people that would prefer American telecommunications companies to be owned by an American company and not a foreign company. I see nothing racist. And why are we speaking of patriotism like it's a bad thing? Most people no matter where they live would feel the same.

Since the topic is about Sprint and Sprint is one of the big four carriers and the acquisition of Sprint by either Softbank or Dish Network would affect mobile devices that use Sprint as a service provider, I'm leaving the thread alone. But I did change the title to more accurately reflect the article linked.

Dish and Sprint customer service support is in India and Phillipines and is horrible. Softbank would be an improvement for Sprint.

Good chance that whoever buys them, they'll continue to use the same customer support because it's cheap.

I do not know about DISH but I do know Sprint US based CS and TS is located in several US cities and not where you say.
