Those ads that discuss the night's NBC line-up that are made to sound like a "typical" morning show, with 3-4 people "casually" talking about what they are going to watch tonight and all decide that they'll watch NBC after hearing the others make "of the cuff" pitches for each show.
They typically go like:
<fake laughter>
"So, what's everyone doing to night?"
<stupid joke about being lonely or some-such>
"I'm going to watch "My Name is Earl."
"Oh yeah, that's that new show on NBC, right? The one with Jason Lee?"
"Yeah, it's a great show about blah, blah, blah, and blah, blah."
"Yeah, I also hear it's doing well in the ratings, etc, etc, etc."
"And don't forget, after that is "The Office."
"Yeah, I hear on this one, the boss.."
"Who's played by Steve Carell, right?"
"Yeah, he's great!"
<garbled talk about how funny he is, etc>
"So anyway, the boss is going to blah, blah, blah.."
<laughter, mixed with "That's great," "How funny," and "Reminds me of our boss.">
"So, that's "My Name is Earl," followed by "The Office," tonight, starting at blah, blah, on NBC?"
"And don't forget "SVU!"
<casting mimicking the Law and Order gavel sound while laughing>
"So, I guess I know what I'm doing tonight, blah, blah, blah."
<fade out, as if going to "commercial">
Ughh.. :disgust:
Few things bother me, especially enough to post about them, but for some reason, those really piss me off. Do people actually thing it's a real morning show discussing these things? Don't people hear it and get pissed off, like I do, that the station is are obviously trying to play its listeners for chumps?
What pisses me off even more is that it's working exactly as they expect, as I now obviously know exactly what's airing on NBC that night, and I'm generating "buzz" about the advertising! :|
