Discovery Expedition Alaska rant

The Discovery Channel has been promoting this Expedition Alaska show for some time now and it's currently on.

All the commercials make it look to be a show about the wilderness of Alaska but so far every single segment of the show has focused on climate change/global warming.

Am I alone in feeling that this shit is getting to be a bit old. Can't we just have a show about Alaska like the commercials make it out to be rather than making every part of the show about some climate change angle?

I get it, the environment is important and we need to do our part.

I get it that the temperature has changed in some areas and glaciers are melting.

But isn't it all getting a little tiresome being shoved down our throats?

Everywhere you look, everything is about "going green".

Hell, I did a test drive of the '09 Subaru Forester today and all you see everywhere is how "green" it is, which is great and all but htf have we gotten to this point where that's the number one focus of everything these days?

Maybe I'm alone, maybe it's a weak rant but just because these things are happening doesn't mean every show I watch or good I shop for or store I go to or radio station I listen to needs to constantly remind me of it over and over and over ad nauseum.

/rant

Step 1: Find the manual for your television or remote control.
Step 2: Learn how to change the channel.

I hate being preached to. Especially about fake stuff like global warming and religion.

I knew the show was going to be about global warming. They mentioned it a few times but it seems that they overly promoted the program as it were solely about an Alaskan expedition in the wilderness. I hated the fact that they try to sensationalize everything. I think it would be better if they just had the scientists speak about the facts and not have the additional narrator try to exaggerate everything.

Alaska is a region that has seen dramatic changes in climate though. Kinda hard not to film that when it's happening all around Alaska.

Did the show lay the blame on people though? Did it say "this is all due to Man made climate change?" Didn't sound like it did from your post, so why the rant? (if it did than I stand corrected...)

..eco-theism plays on making you feel guilty. the green fog of confusion spewed forth by the eco-KOOKs and their alarmist tactics. They sit around in the board meetings at the sierra club and other eco-KOOK organizations druming up green slime slants on all human activity. Their trying to wear you down. Is it working??

Well I made it through 1.5 hours of it since my wife wanted to see more. I was really hoping there would at least be some segments that had nothing to do with climate change/global warming and just focus on the beauty and wilderness out there but it never happened.

They were talking about the grizzly bears running out of salmon to eat while filming them plucking copious amounts of salmon from the water.

Yeah, it looked like it was going to be a show about the Alaskan wilderness instead of a show about global warming. After about 5 minutes I was going somewhere else.

When I visited Alaska last summer they talked about the glacier melting, etc., seems that humans have speed things up but it may also be a combination of mother nature too.

Discovery channel has an annoying habit of pushing that crap down your throat at every opportunity. But what was even worse was seeing the granola bran logo on everything! I don't think I've ever seen so much product placement. At one point they even said you'll save the planet by eating their product/diet. :disgust:

-edit-
Oh, and don't misunderstand the "go green" push. Companies have realized they can make money with this, so they're running with it. Basically cashing in on people's stupidity, snake oil salesmen are still drumming up their tune.

LOLZ@people who want TV to be happy all the time. This is why the media has to dumb down.

I watched the last few minutes of that show last night, and it seemed like it was already dumb. Is it just a trip across Alaska?
