The Talon would have run a 12.47 and the Honda would have run a 14.78 :D
This according to the 1/8 mile to 1/4 mile converter found here.
So much for it being a "closer race"in the 1/4 mile, eh Honda boys?

i think thats wrong. the talon is AWD, its good at a stop, but when traction is not of concern, IE)high speeds, it becomes parasitic because it has to turn all 4 wheels. that scale does not take that into account.

a 300WHP WRX versus a 300WHP FWD civic, same weight, from a highway roll, 60MPH, civic i believe will own the WRX.

The only thing "parasitic" about AWD is its weight and drivetrain loss. WHP takes into account the drivetrain loss of AWD, so if both cars had the same weight and the same WHP, then the WRX would win because of its taller gearing. As the WRX is "hot" in 3rd gear at 60mph, a properly tuned one would have minimal turbo lag in that race (and a 300WHP Civic would probably have to be boosted anyway).

Otherwise, the reason people believe AWD is "parasitic" is because AWD can get a low ET with a relatively low trap speed (compared to RWD or FWD). This is not because the AWD slows down the car's top speed, but because AWD's get such a powerful launch off the start, which shaves time off the ET, while FWD/RWD gets a slower start and needs a higher trap speed to get a lower ET.

alright let me rephrase. 2 same exact car, same engine hence engine HP is same, same weight, but 1 car is AWD, the other is FWD. from a highway roll, doesn't the FWD win over AWD?

In that specific example, the FWD would win from a roll, the AWD from a standing stop.

And then I slap whoever races "from a roll" :p

I didn't see that, but given equal amounts of time and money, the Talon should be able to walk all over the Civic.

right, thats why a 300 WHP AWD will need the faster engine to make up for drivetrain loss whereas if you stick that engine in a FWD car (hypothetically), it would have more WHP than 300. thats why its parasitic. you've proven my point.

As long as you keep comparing whp, you haven't. Your specific example that I answered was "engine HP", or bhp. Maybe if you actually understood your point, I'd concede, but you don't.
Anyway, only idiot freeway street racers and Nascar race from a roll, and I don't like either.

who they hell races 1/8??
People who live close to a 1/8th mile track.

Edit - it's apparent that lots of you haven't heard of 1/8th mile tracks, they're not *THAT* uncommon guys. So when you ask "who the hell races an 1/8th?" Lots of people do.
