Disc boot failure??

Lately i've been getting the above at first boot up. It started doing it just about everyday lately. I've tried turning off the quick self test in bios to give the hdd more time to spin up in case thats it, no luck. Usually after a couple of resets, it boots up no problem. I also noticed while checking settings in the bios that it showed no hdd.
The system is asus P4S533, 2.8 cpu, 768m pc3200, latest bios. Hard drive is a 6 month old Maxtor 250g as primary (3 partitions), Maxtor 120g as secondary. DVD burner, CD burner. Power supply is 400w enermax.
Thanks

Try running Maxtor's drive diagnostics against both drives; I'm not saying it's happening with yours, but I've noticed a large failure rate with Maxtor drives in the last year at work, 70% fail after 3-6 months of service.

If they pass the tests, you might try adding a fan to blow across your drives if your case design allows it.

my brother had this problem yesterday actually. try another power connector to for your hard drive. make sure you use an entirely different wire because it might be bad. thats what worked for him. keep us posted.
