Disappointment

I wanted to pick up Shadowrun today. I have been looking forward to this game for awhile. But alas it 'requires' Vista and a dual core cpu, according to the box. Oh, and the latest graphics card. I could spring for the card, but Vista and the cpu/motherboard/memory are going to be a little hard to justify for just this game. Oh well, guess I'll wait a year or two and play it then. Or maybe I'll just get the XBOX 360, it would cost about the same.

The game sucks balls. Every review has said so. It's a miserable attempt, the PC is basically nerfed, in an attempt to make xbox 360 whores feel confident.

Even though I haven't played it on the PC, I have played it on the 360 and I must say that most people that have played it will agree it's better than the reviewers make it out to be.

let's charge full price for a game that's only multiplayer.
let's not?</end quote></div>

😕 where have you been? this is common.

common? Maybe I just turn the other way when sh!tty games are released with only multiplayer.
And when I say ONLY multiplayer, I mean only. Some games DO have mostly only multiplayer but have something that resembles single-player as well. And the games I have paid attention to, don't charge $50 for them if they are only multiplayer.
That, or are more susceptible to good deals, such as UT2004 Special Ed. DVD for $30 at BB on launch day. (and that even includes a tough of single-player).

regardless, I know there are some, but they tend to be fodder and not worthy of attention. And the ones I do see tend not to be priced at full charge.

And I didn't think it REQUIRED dual core cpus? Just recommended... dunno for sure though.

Box says dual core required, but not sure if that is true or not.

its cracked for XP play

I saw a thread on this. How reliable is the crack? If I just have to spring for a vid card and some memory, then I will probably buy it.

I haven't tried it myself so I can't speak of it 1st person
Personally I think the game blows 🙂

what does everyone have against Vista? Read up on recent times and see Vista is very stable and there are very few conflicts, if any, unless you have old hardware. I am running Vista x64, and numerous others here on this board are too.. and we all agree, its amazing for what it is. Graphical drivers are the only thing that need work, and nVidia is constantly improving performance. I'm happy I made the switch. Didn't really cost me though. If you have to pay for it, ahem... then well, it's quite expensive.

It is slow as hell on anything but bleeding edge graphics card, plus it gobbles memory. And on every computer I have used it, shipped with Vista, it is noticeable slower running basic office applications than XP is. Its what it is, but I don't want to buy a new computer and OS just to play a computer game when XP is still a perfectly viable OS.
