disappointed with comcast rant

so due to Lost is about to come on recently, i finally bought myself comcast tv cable, i always had internet via comcast. but i found that the tv quality was less than impressive, plus i thought i was suppose to get a free upgrade in speed, but i am still just hovering above 4mbps dl. when i asked the tech, his response was "the dl speed is not guaranteed, your ping looks fine" and then i was put on eternal hold to transfer me to the cable tv tech about my poor picture quality problem.

how should i solve my dilemma.
1. i want to watch/record Lost as it airs
2. i need internet

should i get some antenna and try to get regular tv (i am in Cali bay area, reception here sux) and switch to DSL?

or one of the above and try something else.

Can we say...

I now have 400 kbps bandwidth right now instead of 6 mbps (not confusing bit with byte)?...

I seriously should reflash back to DD-WRT (although I get 1/3 of the bandwidth expected, but constant).
