Disappearing network devices

Newly reinstalled compaq, but the network device doesn't show up in the network connections. It does show up in the device manager though. ipconfig shows nothing.

I put a PCI NIC in it, and it works on the first bootup (ipconfig shows it has an address, and it pings out), until I reboot, where it does the same thing as the on board NIC.

If I uninstall the network devices from the device manager and re-add them without a reboot, then the PCI NIC works... until the next reboot.

I tried reinstalling the chipset drivers (nforce 430), but can't figure it out.

Any ideas?

Also, it may be worth noting that the task bar is locked up for a couple minutes right when it's booted up, and mbam picked up some trojans....

It works in safe mode with networking too.

Update:
Looks like it had something to do with the RPC not using the local account to login. I expect there are other problems as well, but changing that fixed it.
