Disappearing Integrated LAN

The excitement of setting up my first water-cooled rig is wearing off damned quick.

I had the same system running fine on air, but had to dissassemble it to install the waterblocks and move to a new case. When I set everything up again, it wouldn't boot -- corruption of the DMI pool, apparently (and whatever that really means...). So, I formatted and ran a fresh install of WinXP, along with the essential drivers (unified nForce, Radeon Omega, etc.). Now, everything works fine except my internet connection. According to Device Manager, I don't even have a LAN card, which is doubly f-d up because the port is clearly powered -- it lights up when I drop a CAT-5 into it. The only other minor thing I've noticed is that the shutdown dialog no longer allows the "standby option," but that's probably related to the switch to a new case and the resulting slightly different pinout for the front panel connectors.

Couldn't be the BIOS, right? That'd stay flashed regardless of a new WinXP install. Anyway, I've tried everything I can think of. Any help greatly appreciated.

Have you checked in the bios to see if your onboard lan is enabled ?

You know, it's incredibly annoying when somebody answers a complex question with a simplistic, tech-support answer like "is it plugged in?" The only more annoying thing is when that person is...absolutely right. When I was dealing with the HD corruption, I must've hit the "fail-safe defaults" option... <<sheepish grin>>

Thanks a bunch, man. I've really got to stop working on these problems at four in the morning.
