Disabling the Dual boot

If I changed the boot.ini file in Win XP Pro and deleted the last line of the code, would I be able to stop the dual boot screen from appearing? Would it cause problems altering this file like this at all? Thanks.
 
Yes you can edit it to your heart's content.

Just always be sure you have one good entry in there. The one you want to delete may or may not be the last line.
