Hi,

Can someone guide me on how to disable ACPI in an Award BIOS? I seem to have problems with the ACPI (I think) in Win2k coz 3 of my devices (vid, sound and network cards) are sharing the same IRQ....

TIA.

IRQ sharing is very common and normal with PCI devices. If you're having a problem going into standby, it may be due to some software in your system keeping it from entering standby. ICS is known to cause problems with standby. Is this similar to what you are experiencing?

My system has no trouble going to standby. But it does have a problem when resetting. Every time the system resets, my monitor goes to DPMS mode and my system "hangs". I'll have to press the reset button again to get it to restart successfully. Sometimes I have to press the reset button a few times.

What's ICS?

ACPI is always there, Windows can choose whether to use it or not.

Your IRQ sharing problem can be fixed by disabling "PCI steering" in "PCI BIOS" somewhere in win2k equiv of "Device Manager"
