disabled parking ticket

Bet you guys are gonna laugh at me for getting tickets for parking in "reserved for disabled parking"

On this evening, my friend and I were parking our trucks in the disabled parking spot for unloading my stuff into my new apt. It was my second trip on the second evening since i moved in. We only parked our trucks for less 25 minutes. I have a feeling that this tentant, who lives near the disabled parking spot, got jealous and angry at us so he called the police and complained that we parked there without permit. When we were done moving the last load, we walked toward to our truck to go somewhere to eat, we noticed the cop car in the front of our trucks so I ran forward to the cop to try explain that we couldnt able to park anywhere but parlk this spot to unload. It turned out that it was volunteer traffic cop ticketing us. I explained him that i couldnt able to park in the fire lane cuz it will be towed for sure and the other parking are full so we figured it was okay to park for unloading purpose only. He shrugged and pointed to this disabled parking sign. He didnt care why. I looked at the ticket to find out how much fines.

Guess what? Freaking $518 fines... tooo muchhhhh.... I looked at this "so called" cop as if i was going faint but he didnt care about it and said " nothing i can do about it" then drove away. My friend and I both got tickets total over 1 thousand dollars for just parking there in less 25 mins. Jeez what a new expericne for me moving into a new apt.

Of course, we are gonna request for a hearing.

Is there any way we could convince the judge that we couldnt able to park anywhere else but this disabled parking to unload my stuff?? we should have parked on fire lane cuz it could be 150 dollars but the sign says "it will be towed on your own expense". I spoke with the apt manager, she said that she will help me by writing the letter explaining the judge that she approved us to park there and there is no handicap or disabled tentants in this private property. I ve seen everyone doing that in this apt place and im the only person who caught. I m pissed offff!!!!

I will never mess with disabled parking in the future, even, for unloading purpose.....

did you know that parking in the handicapped spot has a bigger fine than parking in the fire lane

at least it is in san francisco

just a random fact

Next time don't park in disabled parking.

As for the whole "towed at your own expense" thing, first off, that would only be ~$100, and second, it takes a LONG time to get the tow truck out there so unless you spend hours and hours unloading, you won't get towed.

next time park on the sidewalk. It will take them half an hour to figure out what the ticket is for.

Maybe you shouldn't able to speak english?

What's there to care about? You parked in the disabled parking spots. That's bad ju-ju, chief.

I guess there's always the possibility that you could have left a note with a cell phone that you would immediately answer if someone disabled needed the space. Otherwise, how's the "cop" supposed to know you haven't been parked there all day?

Why didn't you move the trucks after you were done moving?

We were going to move our truck after moving the dryer machine. However, the cop was already there.

I asked the "so called" cop what time did we parked to confirm how long we parked. The officer knew how long we parked there.

looks like you have bigger problems on your hands if you moved into a new residence with obnoxious neighbors.

dude, I have a temp. handicap parking permit. I would've been pissed if I had to walk far because of you.

anyway, next time, park, unload, and move your truck.

Yep.

Best thing would be to find out exactly which neighbor called, if possible, and then use that as the basis for your "creative revenge". Whatever happened to the "old days", when neighbors would help the new people move in, even. :|

I'm not reading through the thread.
If you were "parked" in the spot for the purpose of unloading your vehicle,
then that's "STANDING" not "parking"

Not guilty.

Holy cow! $500 for that?!?! Definitely go to court and explain everything, including what the apt manager said. If it's on apt property, I don't see how they can ticket you through the city. (only through the apt complex)

Good luck, and I agree, I would have used it to unload. What are the chances a handi-capable person 🙂)) would need that spot for the ~hour you were unloading?

Pay the fine in all $2 dollar bills. 😀

Seriously though, fight the tickets, fight any points, then get into a fight with whoever was low enough to call the rent-a-transitpopo on you.. thats just rediculous.
