is this normal?? after disabling ACPI, my processor's (tbird 1.1 gig) idle temp went from 26c to regular full load temps of 43-44 c. y does it do this?? although i have sufficeint cooling and its fine running at that temp, i would rather have it running at 26-30c during normal usage than the 43-44c. weird thing is task manager reports like 99 percent idle. help!!

Under Power Managment in Control PAnel do you have APM on? Without APM or ACPI Win2K wont send HLT commands to the CPU.

I have an A7V/duron 950 combo... I removed acpi and added standard PC. My cpu is running under full load as well. It's only 42 degrees celcius under full load, so I'm not too worried. It would be nice though if I could get the halt command working again without re-enabling ACPI.
