Hello,

The title sums it up..is there a way to disable the scandisk during boot up after a Windows 2000 crash?

My new AIW Radeon causes the system to crash frequently because of immature drivers. I use 3rd party scandisk software and I don't want to wait for Windows' scandisk to scan 3 hard drives. I think there is a registry tweak to do this but I don't know it. Also, I can't quit the scandisk because I use a USB keyboard and the scandisk seems like it can only be cancelled by a PS2 keyboard.

My comp doesn't even let my computer run scandisk. It says i have to run chkdsk /h or something like that to enable it. So usually i hae to run win98 then run scandisk. It feels weird having to run win98 to fix win2k problems. I'm a win2k newbie though.

There prol'ly is a switch in your BIOS to make it look like your USB keyboard is on a PS/2 port. There is in mine, at least.

I picked up Norton SystemWorks 2k1 just for Scandisk, and was I ever pissed when I found out it couldn't fix errors on my main NTFS partition. My temper only became worse when I found out I had to reboot the machine and that it relied on freakin' chkdsk to fix things. For this, I paid $50?

Anyway, I don't know how you'd do it. And I, for one, would not try.
