Disable MSN MEssenger in Windows-XP

This one is driving me insane, even though i have removed the Registry entry in theCURRENT USER and LOCAL MACHINE run keys, this thing still keeps coming back!
Anyone have this prob too ?

Open sysoc.inf in the inf folder in /windows. remove the HIDE references and you'll be able to uninstall it from Add/Remove Programs.

Got it!


You have to find the file that dukdukgoos was talking about.
I forgot i had "hide system files" checked off...my bad!

Anyway once you find the file sysoc.inf it will sho a list of data, much opf which has the "hide" enabled.
simply rmeove the word hide, make sure to leave the space between the commas.
Then go to Add/Remove programs/add/remove windows components/ at the bottom of the list is the MSN program it is called
"Windows Messenger" just clik it off to remove it an voila you're done!
