Disable LEDs in OCZ PowerStream fans?

I want to disable the LEDs inside the fans in an OCZ PowerStream power supply. I have seen this question asked before, but no real definite answer. Is this possible? Does anyone have ANY REASONABLE suggestions?

-Thanks

I don't know anything about your particular LED fan. The LED fan I have has 3 LEDs around the housing. I can see the wires going to the LEDs. So all I would have to do is to cut one of the wires. The wire going to the fan motor would still be connected. It would be harder to reconnect the LEDs.

if you connect a positive and a negative to each wire leading up to the led and then plug it in, it will blow the led but leave the fan intact...

Chopstick,

Replacing the fans does seem like the best solution. I noticed in your sig, you replaced the ones in your OCZ 520. Would those be the same kind as the ones in the OCZ 600 EU? I need recommendations on fans that Cool Better and are Quieter than the stock OCZ fans... 🙂

-Thanks

AthlonAlien: I too have an OCZ PowerStream, a 520w. My case theme is blue so the first thing I did when I took it out of the box was open it up and
swap both 80MM fans with CoolerMaster Rifle's. They are extremely reliable with a high MTBF, and are very silent. Plus, they push a decent 32CFM.

Just leave the original power connections intact when you swap fans and solder them to female 3-pin connectors for the replacement fans.

Edit: They usually run about nine bucks a pop but are on sale at SVC for $4 presently.

I installed 250K pots on my led fans....it allows me to turn the brightness down or turn the led's off while not affecting the fan speed.. ....or you could just cut the led wires around the fans. Scott

I think the 600w uses 80mm fans. If it does, then you can swap them easily. Follow this guide.
