Disable Autorun

You could also hold the shift key down as you put the CD or DVD in the drive if you only want to disable it temporarily.
 
On the same subject is there anyway to speed up the autodetect. It takes mine 20 sec to register a new disk and if it is a multidisk install and I rush it it will not renew itself and I will have to manually tell it to refresh so it can continue.
 
You need to edit the registry.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/System/CurrentControlSet/Services/Cdrom
Set the value for 'Autorun' to 0 to disable. Set the value to 1 if you ever want to reenable it.
