Disable Autorun

Anyone know how to disable this feature? It is causeing me problems.

The easiest way is to thru TweakUI/XP Powertoys. There is an option in TweakUI to disable Autorun on CD/DVD drives.

You could also hold the shift key down as you put the CD or DVD in the drive if you only want to disable it temporarily.

Isn't there a way to permanently disable it?

On the same subject is there anyway to speed up the autodetect. It takes mine 20 sec to register a new disk and if it is a multidisk install and I rush it it will not renew itself and I will have to manually tell it to refresh so it can continue.

Yes, there is a registry hack but I don't remember it off hand.

You need to edit the registry.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/System/CurrentControlSet/Services/Cdrom
Set the value for 'Autorun' to 0 to disable. Set the value to 1 if you ever want to reenable it.
