I do not want the game to control my braking/acceleration. Where do i turn that shit off?

EDIT: Did they get rid of that "rewind" option? Talk about colossal mistakes.

Are you playing on very easy or something? I don't remember the A.I.ever controlling acceleration/braking, and the rewind option is still there.
 
AT the begining of the race, under assists.

You can turn everything off, or do a custom set up.

And I think the rewind is awesome. Again, you can turn it off if you like, but it defintiely encourages me to take more risks and to replay corners to get them just right.
 
Just make sure that if you disable those assists that you have analog breaks and accelerator pedals/levers. Otherwise, your car will be an absolutely uncontrollable mess. Completely unrealistic physics and poor programming for digital buttons as break/gas (all on or all off) ruin it. This has been the case in just about every racing game and makes them very unfun with my PS2-style controller.

Dirt 2 wasn't quite as bad. Dirt 3 wasn't nearly as fun.
