My computer has been very slow lately ( see Something's wrong Thread for details ).
After reinstalling almost all driver and trying different version of them I conclude that my problem may be due to my recent directx9 install.
I have :
ASUS A7N8X-DX
athlon XP 2100+
Geforce3 Ti500
512mb Hynix PC 2700

I suspect an incompatibilty problem with my nforce2 board or driver...
Anyone had a similar experience? Problem with directx9? What's you PC rig?
Anyone know if it's possible to uninstall directx9?
thank you.

I am running:

p4 1.6@2.736
epox 4g4a
AIW Radeon 8500dv

no issues I have seen....scores in 3dmark are about the exact same....

I think there is a program out there but generally it is very difficult to uninstall it...

I got the same problem. Using Epox 8RDA+ board, xp2100, Win ME, Gainward 4200. Ever since Dx9 install BF1942 cannot run good unless sound options are at their lowest. Rallisport challenge is a little more glitchey as well. All other games seem to be ok. Tried different vid drivers, reinstalled chipset drivers, nothing. Going to remove vid drivers and reinstall Dx9 and see if that does any good. If not, gonna wait on some cash and reinstall with XP and to heck with Dx9. Nothing needs it except 3dmark03 and my system stinx on that bench.

This may not work - any uninstall of DX is risky. DXE

It is for this reason I always keep a backup copy of my entire HDD - so when some new program does not perform as advertised, I simply replace the HDD and go on with life. Then I clone the "polluted" HDD from the good one. It greatly reduces betaware risk and major M$ bugware risk. :)

I use DX9 with no problems. Can't say it helped though, the performance is the same as DX8.1
