OK, i've searched on google, and found some hits linking to previous directx updats, but my problems are with directx 9 and a geforce 2 gts. when i run any direct3d game it says: error 0x887602eb, failed creating 3d device. it works perfectly with directx 8 and any opengl game, and i've tried 4 different driver versions.. omega drivers based on 30.x and 40.x, and the lastest whql cert reference drivers and the latest non cert drivers... all give the same error. with each driver install, i completely uninstalled the old video drivers, removed the inf files, and then restarted and reinstalled the new drivers. still, to no avail. oh, i'm running windows 2000 and service pack 3.

and to those who say don't upgrade to directx 9, i wouldn't except freelancer requires directx 9. so i have to have directx 9 installed (curse microsoft.) thanks in advance!

Try using the 40 series driver from nvidia and reinstall dx9. Then run the direct 3d test from dxdiag.

the latest cert and non cert drivers are both part of the 40 series of drivers, and i've already tried reinstalling directx and everything... even got a program to completely remove directx first... sigh. thanks.
