The best of my knowledge, all current Nvidia cards do NOT support DirectX9 features, so I would say it is not required, but I don't think installing it can hurt. Just make sure you have a system restore point or partition image backup before doing this.
I`ve DX9 installed with my GF2 TI card,no problems with any games for me, Nvidia don`t have a DX9 card out yet.You should`ve no problems installing and running games with DX9,but then I can only speak for myself .
install it if you want, most of the time there is no problems with it. It adds direct x 9 to your system and fixes some problems with previous direct x. Who knows your fps may be up by 5 or 10.
