Directx 9.0c Install issues Regarding Logo Testing.

Ok, my friend is having issues with his Directx. He has a Compaq Presario, he got from a Sams Club. Had Window's XP Home preinstalled. He has Directx 9.0b and well he tries to install Directx 9.0c for World of Warcraft and for some reason it won't install becuase it doesn't pass the Logo Test. Says it is not certified and cannot be installed. Is there anything that can be done or? And sadly the system did not come with a Restore disk, or a Windows XP Home disk so reformatting isn't an option at the moment. Is there anything we can do so we can get it up and running now or does he have to wait to buy Windows XP disk and reformat?

O Dear Cousin:

I bet his graphics card doesn't support DirectX 9.0c. But that's just a wild guess... I can't see much difference between 'b' and 'c', but you never know. What kind of graphics card is in there? Does World of Warcraft really need 9.0c? Because the system requirements I'm looking at online just says it requires DirectX 9 or higher. WoW might OFFER to install 9.0c but that doesn't mean it requires it. Have him try bypassing the 9.0c installation and see if that works.

You know I neglected to ask his graphics card HRM. I'll have to let him know.
as far as the test goes I believe he did that too. I'll suggest it to him in case he hasn't.
