DirectX 8

How do I uninstall this and get back to DirectX 7??, please say this is possible.

Because of my processor like dying, I am using my AMD K6-3 450 and since then I am having unexplained graphics problems and I think it may be DirectX so I want to try 7.0a instead.

Thanks,

Jamie

i also install dx8 on my win2k machine... i think i'm going to just reformat it to get rid of it

does anyone else have the problem with winamp popping like no tomorrow after installing dx8? using Soundlbaster live! mp3?

I will download that viperbri, thanks for that.

I have also downloaded some beta detonator drives, version 7.17 that are DirectX 8 enabled, anyone tried these? shall I install them and see if things work out?

Atom Ant - You can get the Det's 7.17 from HERE but I really wouldn't bother. nVidia's first attempt at DX8 Detonator Drivers caused me all sorts of problems. Don't do it.

You can however get a Direct X Un-installer from HERE if you dare use the 7.17's.

😉

I installed the DX8 on my system when I received Mech Warrior for Christmas. I haven't had any problems so far ( Herc GeForce II Pro 64). What are the sympthoms of problems?? (also am using the DET 6.49's)

this issue is eating me alive now b/c i came across a thread not too long ago about an official uninstaller for dX8. i'm not sure if it was in the AnandTech forums, but it wouldnt hurt to run a search on dX8 or something and see what you guys come up with. otherwise, i went to download.com and searched for "directx uninstaller" and found DirectX Uninstaller 0.12. the description claims that it will remove your current version of directX. it might be worth checking out...just an idea...
