DirectX 8.2 appearently comes with Combat Flight Simulator 3!

Does anyone know where you can download DirectX 8.2 seperately?
I don't seem to find where that has it?

I thought that directx 9 came after 8.1. I didn't even think there was a 8.2. Any input on this?

This might be somewhat related to yours... but when I installed UT2K3, I already had the latest direct x version... and yet, the program needed to insisted that it needed to update the directx on the computer.

Sorry about the link... fixed now.

Anyway, just because program x insists on "updating" DirectX, doesn't mean that it updated anything. I have a game which insisted upon updating my DX8.1 system to DX5; trust me, it didn't do anything.

the directx 8.2 files I downloaded from fileconnect are final. You will notice the dplay files are dated 9/16/2002 after installation and are version: 5.02.3677.0134

DirectX is more than just the 3d rendering engine that most people know about. A few others off the top of my head (these are all encompassed under the DirectX moniker):

Direct3d
DirectPlay
DirectDraw
DirectInput

DirectPlay is a subset of the DirectX API, just like Direct3D, DirectSound, etc.

Odd..just tried posting. Oh well, here goes another shot.


The 8.2 is roughly 27MB...wasnt 8.1 only 8 or 10Mb?!? Seems to be quite a difference I would assume. Downloading now, will give them a shot tomorrow and see what happens!
