OK, a friend of mine just got a new game, which has a requiremnt of DX8.1 compliant video card and DX8.1 video driver.
Now, his crapola onboard video clearly isn't, but how do I check to see what would be to try to find him the cheapest piece of hardware that would work for this?

;) All gfx cards made in the last few years (any GeForce or Radeon certainly) 'should' be DirectX8.1 compatible. It's just that the Radeon8500's, GF3's, GF4TI's & Xabre gfx cards have hardware support for the DX8 enhanced functions like pixel and vertex shaders.

:D Obviously be sure to install DirectX8.1 to your OS, check for the latest BIOS and driver for your gfx card and you should be fine.
