Is there any point to installing DX8? Will we really see any benefit in using it, baring in mind that as far as I'm aware there is nothing DX8 will do for current software.

Also, does anyone know if the latest Detonator driver (6.31) have started to be optimised for DX8, or is it just a wet fish at the moment?

;)

A definite increase in 3DMark 2000 performance. Visually in UT, it looks the same ... more fps I guess.

I'm waiting for DX8 games to see the difference. Maybe more 3D technologies / 3D engines that we haven't seen yet. :)

Dean, feel free to give us more details once you have used it for a bit. I also have a Radeon, and would like to try them out. I've had bad experiences in the past with crappy versions of DX. Problem is, its hard to remove once its in.

You mean I have to actually write something eloquent and convincing? Isn't there just a form I can fill out somewhere?

Too bad my company (and that means me) has Universal MSDN subscription. I can get whatever the h3ll I want... Too bad I'm too much of a chicken to install any beta software. Not on my computer, at least :|

Just send an email to that address, and an auto response will be sent back telling you what to do

BETA??? No thanks... let me know when the "retail" Direct X 8 drivers are released... and then YOU install them... Microsoft releases so many "upgrades" and "patches" that have as many or more "glitches" than the program (of theirs) that they are trying to "fix" that......well...nuff said.:disgust:

I have to tell them why I want to beta test a certain product. Like I said earlier, some formal writing needs to be done. :( They really should give out betas so that some people don't have to resort to obtaining them through, ahem, other means. Plus, generally the more beta testers the better (especially in the earlier stages of beta phase).
