DirectX 11 best-bang-for-buck upgrade?

I have an old Radeon 4850 video card; I'd like to upgrade to a single slot DirectX 11-compatible video card ...

What would give me a best-bang-for buck?

Yes, a 260x is a rebranded 7790, so it is slightly faster than a 7790.

7850 should not be out of reach, should be going for around $100 used, maybe a few bucks more for the 2GB version. I thought you needed a single slot card though?

The best bang for the buck DX11 upgrade from a 4850 would be a GTX 560Ti for about $70-80 used.

A 77xx won't be a significant upgrade, they're in the same league as the 48xx in terms of raw performance. You're getting modern features and lower power consumption, though.

I somewhat agree.

A 4870 is roughly equal to a 7750 in gaming performance. Since the OP currently has a 4850, even a 7750 would be a decent sidegrade. Anything higher than a 7750 will be an upgrade.

4 series are still pretty decent low end graphics cards, they just lack DX11 support.

Yep....Single slot = not much to choose from it looks like.

Quick search it looks like HD 77xx is going to be top dog in his budget at least.

You aren't going to find many single slot GPU's unless you go really cheap (like GT630 or R7 250). On the best bang for buck subject, R7 265 or GTX750Ti right now, sure they're not going to keep up with cards capable of ultra settings in some games, but they play most games with high settings above 60fps and require less power.

I went from a 560Ti to a 750Ti in one of my systems and it's a decent step up, not a large step up but it's noticeable and it consumes significantly less power (560Ti sucks over 200W under load while 750Ti is still under 100W under load) plus I gain the Shadowplay feature which isn't supported on the 560Ti.
