i am planning on buying a video card for christmas but i might not becuase of directx10. should i wait until directx 10 cards go down in price and buy it or should i buy a directx 9 card right now

i am waiting for 8600gt. join me. even if it only as fast a a single x1950pro or x1950xt i would still wait for it cuz it would scale better with res, take less with with AA AF and have better IQ overall. the G80 architecture has proven itself imo and unless r600 tops it the G80 based midrange card will probably be the best price/performce for a long time.

You currently have a 6600GT, either get a x1950xt for $250 or 8800gts for $450 or you could wait till Jan 20th for R600 launch and watch as ATI and Nvidia drop prices on the high end GPU. 8600 wouldn't be out untill late march 06 or even April.
