If you want to pay extra and get NFL then DirectTV

If you just want the usual TV then Dish which is also cheaper.

And on the flip side I wish you could get ONLY the NFL crap because that's the only thing I care about. I just don't use the TV during the off season for anything other than video games and DVDs.

if you are still under contract then that is why they want you to pay them. i took that option in july and am glad i did it. i had 5 months left and paid $42 to get out of contract with them.

We bought out our Dish contract when we switched to Uverse. Cost us $110 dollars. They fucked up IMO. We had just signed a new contract in December for HD and DVR and had about 20 months left...AT&T paid the buy-out fee to get me to change.

I'm glad I don't have a contract with AT&T for Uverse. IMO, it's the worst we've ever had. We're even considering going to Comcrap to take advantage of a package deal they're offering right now. (phone, 16 mb internet, and 240 channels for $89)

No more Fios now that we're down in FL. Can't even get Comcrap at our new house. Choice is pretty much U-Verse (not happy with HD quality), some local cable co. that went to the same business school as Shylock, and satellite.

As far as I can tell, the programming is roughly equal and the prices are not that far off from each other (with Dish being a little cheaper seemingly).

ATOT, give me your wisdom (which I'm going to completely ignore anyway).

Good question.

Seems like the answer is that there is no clear answer.

For me, I need to have access to live sports and, to a lesser extent, live news, so I cannot cut the cable cold turkey.

The lack of a clear answer has caused me to make no decision.

Advanced Communications Cable in springs/parkland? Yeah they suck bad. Before the HD changeover can you believe they were the first (and only) with 10/10 uncapped cable? Too bad they didn't provision dick cuz now every rich snobby HS kid runs torrents all day and you cant do anything but suffer. I don't even think they have an HD setup. This was back in 2001ish when DSL was starting its rollout. Or is it one of the other (tiny)areas where stupid Comcast doesn't reach cuz of some bullshit condo or HOA agreement? How is that possible? Unless your actually in the everglades CC should reach you in Broward.

Why not just put up an antenna and watch the outstanding quality OTA signal we have here? Just about nothing is actually in HD on the "HD" channels all the providers offer. Like FoodTV HD (all the programming is recorded with 4:3 cams in that funky stretch with extra sharpening). All the locals are sent with shitty compression. Good luck watching hockey on that. The only thing really worth it is the ESPN, when they actually have an HD source.

Welcome to hell. I hope you speak spanish cuz you'll need it in 3-5 years. I trust you've already figured that out in Dade.

Coral Springs. Yes, Advanced Cable. Their choices and pricing are, in a word, horrid. Sucks, cause we have Comcast in Parkland where we've been renting for three months before moving to the house we bought.

I grew up down here, so I'm familiar with the... err... "Latin influence." I do my best never to venture into Dade. Unfortunately, half my cases are pending down there and so I wind up driving downtown way more than I like.

Finally I called the office and tried to use company clout(at the time I worked for a large newspaper). I starting this call with "Hi, my name is FDF12389 and I'm a employee of {Newspaper}, my Employee ID is XXXX, and my department number is XXXX. I am recording this conversation and any or all dialog may be referenced in a publication."

so.. you LIED and tried to coerce them into giving you what you wanted... and people wonder why there's no respect for journalists anymore.

Coral Springs. Yes, Advanced Cable

I know the guy who runs the company doing all the installs in CS. I almost worked there on the side then thought better of it. Glad I did because they ended up screwing my friend who did take that job. Total scumbag, and Advanced are pieces of crap.

If its a condo you would do fairly well just going into the access closet and taking off the trap or lock and just plugging it in. They never do audits. Of course I would never recommend you do that.

For your sat question - DirectTV, but only because I can get you the number of someone doing installs thats another friend of mine. No deals though.

I wish they'd just merge already :p - DirecTV's programming/features with Dish Network's fast menu.
